In March, we will once again experience the atmosphere of the major sporting events at close quarters. El Tarter, where we are, and Soldeu are the Grandvalira sectors where the men’s and women’s Alpine skiing World Cup Finals will be held. The competition will take place very close to the hotel, so read on to find out everything we know. Competition programme The first days of the Championships will be focused on El Tarter, specifically on the Àliga slope, where we will be able to see the fastest skiers competing in the speed trials. On 13 and 14 March, the training sessions will take place. And on 15 and 16 March, the DH and Supergiant races will take place. The Mixed Team Parallel will be held on 17 March at 12:00 and the public bib draw will take place at 19:00. Please note that this event will take place at L’Abarset, the most fashionable après-ski centre in Andorra, which is also located in El Tarter, just a few metres from the hotel. On 18 and 19 March, the trials will move to the Avet de Sodeu slope, just 5 minutes by car from the hotel. Here the most technical slalom and giant slalom races will be held. The World Cup Village will be open on both days from 10am to 7pm. And on the last day at 13h the prize-giving ceremony will take place. The World Cup slopes We have a luxury stage to watch the World Cup finals. – Àliga slope, el Tarter sector With a length of 2.7 kilometres, 60 metres wide and a gradient of 751 metres, where runners can reach speeds of up to 120 km/hour. It is the track closest to the hotel. – Avet slope, Soldeu sector The technical disciplines are held on the Avet piste in Soldeu, with guaranteed snow quality thanks to its northeast orientation. The route of the giant slalom has a drop of 416 metres and that of the giant slalom, 210m. The end of the slope takes place on a 14,000 square metre footbridge, built for the first World Cup Finals held in 2019, which connects it with the village of Soldeu. New goals for Grandvalira After these World Cup Finals, the resort has its sights set on being chosen to host the 2029 Alpine skiing championships. If you’re in Andorra this autumn from the 4th to the 20th of November, you can’t miss the Andorra Shopping Festival. The shopping areas of Andorra and Escaldes are filled with discounts, shows and entertainment from Friday to Sunday to enjoy the shopping festival.   Music and live shows A number of live musical performances are scheduled in different locations. One of them is the old quarter of the capital, which becomes an open-air stage where you can also enjoy a drink in one of its bars. The central Plaça Coprínceps in Escaldes-Engordany will also host some of the concerts and is ideal for a stop while you go shopping. The main streets will host travelling shows during the three weekends of the Andorra Shopping Festival, an activity to enjoy with the whole family! Animation in the museums As in previous editions, art is one of the backbones of the Andorra Shopping Festival. The Carmen Thyssen Museum, the CAEE, the Motorcycle Museum, the Electricity Museum, Casa Cristo and the Columba space will host the performance “De ferro i fang”, a play with music and dance created by the Andorra National Stage Foundation. Admission is free, but advance booking is required, as seating is limited. If you have not visited these museums in Andorra yet, this is a good opportunity to do so. Activities for children There’s room for everyone at the shopping festival! The youngest members of the family are in luck because they will enjoy super fun activities and workshops just for them. Children, accompanied by their families, will be able to attend the musical Cinderella and Coco, musical shows that will make them sing and dance.
