Tips for storing your skis at the end of the season

This may not have been the year you’ve been skiing the most. However, at the end of the season, it’s time to store and repair your ski equipment so that it lasts longer. These tips will help you to have it like new next year. ?

How to preserve your ski boards

The first thing to do is to remove all traces of moisture to prevent the edges from rusting. Ideally, you should repair and wax them before storing them, and at the start of the following season, remove the wax and wax them again. Another important point is to loosen the binding and lift the heel cup. If you don’t have experience, you can go to a workshop to have this done. Finally, when it comes to storing them, they will be better preserved if they are separated and placed vertically, in a dry and well ventilated place.

Storing ski boots in summer

When cleaning boots, it is essential to clean both the inside and the outside. The inside of the boot, which can be removed, is usually cleaned with a rather mild neutral product so as not to damage it. It is important to do so in order to remove moisture and odours. The outside of the boot and the inner insole, which are made of plastic, can be cleaned with stronger detergents such as bleach to keep them clean. Once all the materials are dry, it is time to reassemble the boot and fasten it. Never leave them open, as the heat and humidity can dry out the plastic and deform them. As with skis, boots are also best kept in a dry place.

Don’t let the rest of your ski equipment get damaged in summer

The inside of the helmet should also be disinfected using a neutral soap as it is made of fragile material. Some helmets usually have an inner liner that can be removed and washed.
The gloves can be cleaned in the washing machine without any problem and for the leather part you can put cream or wax on them to preserve them better.

If you follow these tips, you will be able to better maintain your ski equipment and extend its life. See you next winter season?
