Farewell to a record-breaking season after an unforgettable winter in Grandvalira
As spring arrives and the snow melts, at the Hotel del Tarter we are bringing the 2024-2025 ski season to an end. We would like to thank all the guests who have chosen us to enjoy the snow in Andorra. It has been a winter full of memorable moments. Below, we take a look at the most relevant data and key moments that have marked these months in Grandvalira. A gradual start and an end to the season in great conditions Although the snowfall at the beginning of the season was delayed and did not allow us to open the first weekend of december, Grandvalira Resorts started the season gradually from 8 December. In this way, it became one of the first ski resorts to open in the Pyrenees. Subsequent snowfalls ensured quality snow at Christmas, with a large number of visitors that continued throughout the months of January and February. Thanks to the investments made in recent years in the snowmaking network, Grandvalira has been able to guarantee days of skiing even in periods with less snow.A fact that you will surely remember most recently is the heavy snowfall in March. They left snow thicknesses of up to 250 cm, which meant that we were able to ski in excellent conditions until the Easter long weekend, when we were able to enjoy the last few days of skiing. More days of skiing in Grandvalira Grandvalira ended the season with more than 120 skiable kilometres. A total of 1,700,816 ski days were sold, 2.9% more than last year, during the 134 consecutive days it was open, from 8 December to 20 April. The busiest day for skiers was 28 December, coinciding with the Christmas holiday period. More efficient snow production This season has been marked by two major episodes of snowfall: one in December, coinciding with the opening of the season, and another more intense one in March. In total, Grandvalira accumulated 384 cm of snow, 14% more than the previous season. This increase has made it possible to reduce the use of water for the production of artificial snow, with 1,100,000 m³ transformed, which is 26% less than last year. Even so, the snowmaking network remains essential. The renovation of 239 cannons over the last two winters has significantly improved their efficiency, reducing energy consumption by up to 90% compared to older models. Competitions have also been present this year This season Grandvalira has hosted events such as the men’s European Cup (3 and 4 February), which brought together the best European skiers in Soldeu. The Mamba Ski Race by Joan Verdú was another sporting event of note, with 400 participants in April. Now, the resort is already preparing the women’s alpine skiing World Cup for 2026, which will be held on the Àliga piste with supergiant and downhill events. Nor does it neglect the preparations for the first Freeride World Championships 2026, which will take place for the first time in Andorra, in Ordino Arcalís. Thanks for an unforgettable season… And great news for the next one! The 2024-25 season has been exceptional and we would like to thank all the guests, families and friends who have accompanied us.This summer, however, we will not be opening our doors because we have decided to take a well-deserved break… for a very good reason! We are working on the complete renovation of our rooms, to offer you even more comfortable, modern and cosy accommodation. We can’t wait to show you the result and to show you our new facilities for the next ski season.
