3 lakes in Andorra to make the most of nature this summer

We give you ideas for discovering 3 lakes in Andorra in an accessible way and with the whole family. Will you join us?

Art and nature at Engolasters Lake

If you’ve been to Andorra, you’ve probably already visited or heard about this lake. It is very easy to access and the route is very pleasant. Once you park your car, all you have to do is go down to the shore and walk around it. This summer, you’ll also come across the international art biennial: Land’art, which means that as you walk around you’ll see sculptures and other works of art that decorate the landscape. Walk along the lake, but also along the Les Pardines path. It’s an easy 3 km walk that leads to Els Cortals de Encamp, an ideal place to work up an appetite. So take the opportunity to eat in one of the restaurants near the lake.

The Pessons lakes
Near the hotel is the route to these lakes. All you have to do is get to the car park in the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira and start walking. Up to the first lake the route is easy and you reach the refuge where you can stop for lunch or a drink. Depending on your level, you can reach the other lakes and end up at the Pessons pass, from where you can enjoy impressive views of all the lakes. If you are an experienced mountaineer and are used to this type of route, we recommend it.

The Tristaina Lakes in the other valley
To get to these lakes you will have to go towards Arcalís. This route is perhaps one of the best known in the country. It is made up of three lakes: Primer, Mig (in the middle) and Més Amunt (higher up). You will enjoy an accessible route at an altitude of 2,3000 metres and you will be able to admire Andorra’s most emblematic nature at close quarters.

Some recommendations for going to the mountains
Although the routes are easy to access, we recommend that you go prepared. Take suitable footwear and a thin waterproof jacket, as the weather can change abruptly in the mountains. Remember to bring a bottle of water to cool off from the high temperatures, a cap and sun cream to protect you from the sun. If you are going to go hiking in the mountains, be well informed before you start your route.
