Ski mountaineering in Andorra: Excitement guaranteed!

Are you familiar with ski mountaineering? Whether you’re already a fan of this alternative to alpine skiing, or you’re considering taking up this exciting adventure this season, you’ll find the ideal conditions in Andorra. With adapted circuits, a ski pass that will allow you to enjoy these routes, specialised equipment rental shops and the option of hiring guides and skimo instructors. And, of course, all this in an impressive natural and mountain setting with high quality snow.

The ski mountaineering circuits
They are designed to suit all levels of ski mountaineering enthusiasts. Whether you’re a beginner wanting to learn the basics or an expert looking for new challenges, there are routes for everyone, spread across all Andorra’s resorts.
– Grandvalira
This is the largest resort and offers a total of 15 itineraries in different sectors.
– Pal Arinsal
You will find 19 kilometres of pistes and a total of 8 circuits, 7 in Pal and 1 in Arinsal.
– Ordino-Arcalís
This resort, the most northerly in the country, has 5 circuits of different levels.

Ski pass and timetables
To practise ski mountaineering you need a special ski pass different from the Alpine ski pass: the one-day Mountain Pass. It gives you unlimited access to the circuits designed for ski mountaineering and snowshoeing. It also includes the use of the ski lifts for one ascent and descent per day and per lift. These are: Canillo cable car, Tarter cable car, Soldeu cable car, els Pioners cable car (Pas de la Casa), Funicamp and the Montmalús ski lift in Grandvalira. The opening hours for these circuits are the same as the resort opening hours.

Ski touring in Andorra
It’s simply extraordinary! From the moment you set foot on the ski touring circuits, away from the conventional slopes, you will be immersed in the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity of the mountains that surround you. It is as if time stands still and all your worries disappear. The trails will take you through virgin snow-covered forests and breathtaking valleys. Every turn gives you a panoramic view of some of the most breathtaking scenery you have ever seen.

When the day comes to an end, relax in the cosy rooms of the Hotel del Tarter, which is located at the foot of the Grandvalira slopes. You will enjoy a delicious dinner and regain your strength in the morning with an exquisite breakfast in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that will make you feel at home.
